When the Spanish Explorer Cortez arrived, the Aztecs had already firmly established themselves as rulers in the area that is now the South of Mexico.

The Aztec kitchen and culture with its many flavours, colours, and new types of food fascinated the Spanish, and it was the Spanish who gave the Aztec’s flatbread the name: Tortilla.

Soon after the Spanish arrived the Aztec Empire fell. Luckily, the Tortilla was too good to be left in the past!

ABOUT A 120 YEARS AGO

We are pretty sure the Aztecs put some Bomb Ass food in their Tortilla’s.. but where exactly the burrito came from is still a mystery. Nobody really knows?

Some say it was started by some guy called Juan Mendez who sold rolled Tortillas from a wooden cart, pulled by a donkey, during the Mexican Revolution (1910-1921).

Oh yeah..
Apparently, Burrito means “Little Donkey” in Spanish?

What is safe to say is that the first dictionary entry of the word burrito appeared in the “Diccionario de Mexicanismos” in 1895. Some years before our friend Juan Mendezwas riding his donkey and selling burritos.

Where exactly this meal was handed down from above by an Angel we can’t say.. (because nobody knows?)
What we can say, is that people have simply been putting

some Good Ass Ingredients in a Tortilla, wrapping that sucka up, and enjoying it.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

The burrito as a Mexican traditional dish first arrived in the borderlands between Mexico and the United Stated around the 1920’s, 30’s and the first print entry can be dated back to 1934.

After its arrival it got incorporated into several American cuisines; the Tex-Mex, Arizona-Mex and the Cali-Mex cuisine.
Each adding their own flava’ to our beloved package!

From here onwards the burrito has never stopped changing and evolving. And this is what makes the burrito such a wonderful meal!! Even though its heritage lies in the old world… the new times have seen the rise, and approval, of many styles of burritos!

The one we will serve you is the “Mission Burrito”, originating from the Mission District in San Francisco, California. It’s the Biggest And Baddest of em’ all.

Why are we serving these you may ask?! WELL…
Because we feel you deserve nothing but the best to stop that
craving for good food!!
